Meeting the Queen

Weeks of scheduling orchestration, painstaking preparations, nerve-wracking flight, agonizing over the perfect knee curtsey…”Your Royal Highness”... sit when she sits, face the cameras, watch your posture, don’t fidget.
These are the considerations I imagine if I had ever met the Queen! How such a visit would have possibly come about is beyond me, though, as I am not famous, nor am I in the realm of politics that would warrant her royal attention. In any event, hovering security personnel, photographers with cameras poised, and random protocols would no doubt detract from the experience.
Actually, pop any celebrity into the Queen’s shoes - entertainers, influential politicians, high caliber athletes, business titans - and the circus would likely be similar. (picturing any of these people actually IN the Queen’s shoes makes me laugh!)
What would the world say if I were to reveal that I met with God Himself just this morning? THE King, THE Creator, THE Redeemer… It doesn’t get more famous than that! There was no fanfare, no clicking camera shutters, no pomp, no rules. It was a quiet, sacred moment, at a time and location of my choosing. I entered His presence in my comfiest clothes, surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds of my home.
How awesome, how humbling, how exciting to have this kind of access to God. Thanks to Jesus, thanks to the Cross, thanks to the Resurrection, I need no human intercessor, no sacrifices painstakingly prepared, no rituals. Nothing comes between me and my Maker.
Relax my body…breathe deeply…release the burdens of my heart…invite my thoughts to settle…meet God.
It is that gloriously simple.
